Then, on Saturday, we had a full day of activities. After staying out until 4 am, the morning started later than scheduled (2 hours later, to be exact). We were supposed to meet at 12 pm, but of course, none of us managed to leave on time. Then, in my hurry, I took a matatu instead of waiting for a bus, and ended up on the wrong side of town!!! I played it "cool," and as soon as the barely-functioning van made its next stop, I got off and started walking in the direction that I hoped my true destination was. I ended up finding the Police Headquarters and went in there to get help, rather than asking a stranger that could potentially see me as an easy target. A nice police officer offered me an "escort," so Wicleffe - a cleaner at the station - made the 30+ minute walk with me to the National Museum, to meet the others. He even gave me a little tour of parts of Nairobi I hadn't seen along way.
After lunch in the museum garden, Elma, baby Nyakara, and the German interns had a fun day at the national museum. Not what we expected, but a good time none the less.
So excited for her first trip to the museum!
A gourd collection from different ethnic groups across Kenya
Me showing some love to the founder of the museum
Our closest ancestors...
Jan and I posing in front of a cool gadget that compares your weight to animals. I was told I way as much as a leopard (I think). Kenya has been feeding me well!
In front of the national museum
The garden/Nairobi River beautification project undertaken by the museum. Looks much better than the rest of the river!
Then, we finished the night with a hilarious play called "Don't Dress for Dinner," about a married couples love pentagon...it was really a good time! I tried to watch the World Cup 3rd place match, but couldn't make it more than 5 minutes!!
Jasmine (in her Germany football jersey) and I posing in front of Alliance Francaise, where we watched the play.
Notice how filthy my feet are after walking all day!!!
